We just rented "Spanglish."

Before you laugh yourself into a hernia, let me explain. The movie was written and directed by James L. Brooks, who has made some great films, such as "Broadcast News," and "As Good As It Gets." Plus, it starred Adam Sandler, who is sometimes is accidentally funny.

However, this movie was horrible. Horrible. The story was hackneyed and trite, the characters were one dimensional--Tea Leoni's character was the most over-the-top neurotic woman since Faye Dunaway in "Mommie Dearest." I could see the entire arc of this movie in the first ten minutes. And, the directing was atrocious. When the fat kid got the skinny clothes from her mom, Brooks tried to wrench so much emotion from the scene I just wanted to puke.

We turned it off after about twenty minutes. This is truly the worst movie I have seen in years.
