This site gives a visualization of all flights in the US in any given day. It's mesmerizing to watch, and it is instructive too. The video points out some patterns, but one pattern I noticed was how isolated we seem to be here in the northwest.

Flight Tracking with Google Earth
Useful if you know the Flight number and need something to bond over with a significant others parentals.
I think I saw a flight leave Spokane! You're right about how the video makes the northwest appear so isolated. It was fascinating to watch, though.
