The best argument yet against "An Inconvenient Truth"

This week in Federal Way schools, it got a lot more inconvenient to show one of the top-grossing documentaries in U.S. history, the global-warming alert "An Inconvenient Truth."

After a parent who supports the teaching of creationism and opposes sex education complained about the film, the Federal Way School Board on Tuesday placed what it labeled a moratorium on showing the film. The movie consists largely of a computer presentation by former Vice President Al Gore recounting scientists' findings.

I could not agree MORE with this decision. Really, it's the safe thing to do. I say this because, in my high school classes, I know the students believe everything I say. They are an open book, a tabula rasa, into which I write my left-wing political agenda, and they buy it hook, line and whatever. So, the parent should be applauded, not just for his foresight, but also for his reasoning. See, he objected to the film because:

Condoms don't belong in school, and neither does Al Gore.

OK, I see, Al Gore=condoms. I'm following you so far. The other reason that the film should be banned is:

"[Al Gore] is not a schoolteacher."

OK, still with you. We should not have any text or film in the classroom that was not produced by a teacher. Makes sense.

Where I take issue is here:

The Bible says that in the end times everything will burn up, but that perspective isn't in the DVD.

Au contraire, Frosty (truly, his [yes, HIS] name is Frosty Hardison, and I swear I am not making any of this up), that's what the whole...movie...is...about. The end times. Only difference is, Gabriel doesn't emerge from the heavens and blow his trumpet.

Honestly.... Is satire even possible any more?
