Liar or waffler?

John Roberts just dissented--voted against--allowing Oregon to retain its assisted suicide law. However, the Supreme Court upheld the state's right by a 6-3 vote.

Interestingly, in August of last year, Roberts said, regarding this very same law, that he would "start with the supposition that one has the right to be left alone," according to this article in The Oregonian. I guess he changed his mind. Or had his mind made up the whole time and didn't tell anyone.
