Most literate cities

A list of the most literate cities has been released. You can find this on the web here.

The top ten cities are, in order:
Seattle, WA
Minneapolis, MN
Washington, DC
Atlanta, GA
San Francisco, CA
Denver, CO
Boston, MA
Pittsburgh, PA
Cincinnati, OH
St. Paul, MN

Since, for the study, the cities had to have more than 250,000 citizens, Spokane wasn't eligible. I'm sure we would have been, say, number 7.

What I find interesting about the list is that 7 of the 10 cities are in blue states (eight if you are a conspiracy theorist and count Ohio as a blue state.) What could it possibly mean?

True, but I think most cities are considered "blue" aren't they? There seems to be a conflict between urban and rural communities throughout the US regarding politics and values.
