Film class

The Spokesman did a story about my film class in the Thanksgiving day paper. This link should work.

It's interesting that the reporter, McDonald, seems to be coming at the story from the assumption that the class was created with the idea of replacing books with movies. That is not at all what I hoped to do with the class. I simply wanted to create an English class with films as the text. Anyhoo, the story isn't bad. My picture looks goofy, though.

I can't agree more with your motivation to offer this class! As a society, we're not reading as much as we used to. I know that I don't. Film is a valid form of modern literature for those, like me, that have little motivation to crack open a book once in a while. I can't think of many things that are as important as getting young people to develop those critical thinking skills and learn what it means to have an opinion AND a voice that will be heard and validated. Great work. Great story.
